3Days KIBALE FOREST

Kibale Forest National park is one of Africa and Uganda's best destinations boasting with 13 primate species including the Chimpanzee. The Park is also one of the best tropical rain forests and a haven for birds with several species - it's located in western Uganda and joins Queen Elizabeth in the south to create a long migration corridor for wildlife. Several crater lakes exist in Kibale and Fortportal region making it a spectacular place to explore with the famous mountains of the moon in the backdrop. Whilst in Kibale, Chimpanzee tracking and Bird watching are the most activities engaged in, visits to several craters, nature walks, other primate watching and community visits.

Day 01: Kampala - Kibale Forest Park

After an early morning breakfast, depart Kampala and head west through Mubende to the ancient town Fort portal that lies below the spectacular Mount Rwenzori ranges. Have en route lunch and visit the Toro palace before proceeding to Kibale forest park. On arrival, visit a few of the crater lakes around the park. Overnight and dinner at Primate Lodge / Crater View Rest Camp or alternative.

 

Day 02: Chimpanzee Tracking


Today at 08:00hrs, report to the ranger station at Kanyanchu for briefing about the chimpanzee tracking experience. The park is a home to over 370 bird species, 70 mammal species and 13 primate species including the Chimpanzee that is said to be man’s closest relative. The tracking offers you a must see opportunity of these apes and a diversity of flora and fauna. After the splendid tracking, relax and enjoy the evening at place of accommodation.

 

Day 03: Kibale / Kampala


Begin with breakfast in the morning then go for a 4.5km guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland sanctuary. Bird watching here is perfect-sighting a variety of birds like the great blue Turaco, blue-throated roller, papyrus Gonalek, woodpeckers, bronze sunbird, Grey backed black finch, black-crowned waxbill and many more with a beautiful array of butterfly species. Drive to Fort portal for lunch and then transfer back to Kampala ending the safari.
