Introduction


GORILLLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS is a Tour and Travel Company created to serve the various needs of travelers in Africa, as well as to promote Eastern Africa as a travel destination. GORILLLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS offer a variety of activities in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, such as safaris, city tours, white water rafting, boat trips, fishing trips, horseback riding and more. We can also assist you with worldwide air ticketing. We cater for individuals, families, business and leisure travel. Our dedicated and experienced team will help you with all of your travel requirements within our capabilities and personal attention is our first priority when attending to your tours and travel requirements.


Accommodation for our clients varies from budget campsites to luxurious safari lodges. Your budget and personal requests will be considered when choosing accommodation for your trip. Clients are advised to inform us in case of any dietary requirement, this will avoid any inconveniences. For transportation, we use four-wheel drive Toyota Land Cruisers as well as minibuses, which are custom made for the comfort of our clients while on the safari. We start our safaris any day of the week and departure dates for safaris are not dictated. We use very experienced team of guides who are knowledgeable about travel, culture and wildlife, some of them are specialists in birds like birders, mountain Gorillas and general guides who have full information about wildlife, culture and travel for Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.

Our Products and Services
Air Ticketing.

We carry out Air ticketing to all destinations with departures from Entebbe International Airport offering the best flight connections available to suit your travel plans. We provide air tickets to International and regional destinations.


Car Hire and Leases.

We offer car hire for both corporate and chauffer. Our vehicles range from saloon cars
four-wheel drive such as Land Cruisers, minibuses, and vans. Our cars have always been in a good mechanical condition with comprehensive licenses, which help them carry out safaris without no any worries about having mechanical breakdowns. However if it happens accidentally, we have a 24/7 cars for the rescue wherever you are on your safari.


Hotel and Lodge Bookings.

We carry out accommodation bookings on the part of our clients based on preferences. Lodges here range from Budget, Mid-range and Luxury, presidential Kings/Queens, depending on what the clients prefer. The services are quite great for they expect you come back tomorrow.


Wildlife Safaris in Uganda.

We organize wildlife safaris that involve game drives, birding, nature walks, boat cruises, white water rafting cultural, city tours, religious, projects, research, filming, holiday makers, motor bikes, bicycles, and so many depending on which one you would like get served. In Uganda, safaris can be carried out in both ten National parks and game reserves Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable national park, Lake Mburo National Park, Kidepo National Park, Kibale National Forest National Park, Mgahinga national park, Mount Elgon national park, Rwenzori Mountain National Park and the Semliki National Park.


Fishing Safaris.

We would like to take you for fishing safaris because they are a leisurely way to enjoy the sight and sounds of Uganda- not to mention its tasty fish! Fishing safaris are carried out in Murchison Falls NP and on Victoria Nile, where you will get a chance to have great catch of different fish species which are quite different from those in your country. If you are a fishing lover, then Uganda is one of the most spectacular places you’ll need to visit for your lovely activity.

Cultural Tourism.

We organize great memorable cultural tours for our clients interested in learning about different cultures and customs in Uganda.

There are several heritage sites in Uganda not to be missed including the Kasubi tombs (where the Baganda kings are buried), Namirembe Cathedral, Gadhafi National Mosque, Bahai Indian temple, Nakasero market, Makerere University.

Uganda is a country rich in culture, because we have more than 30 different languages and each language by its own tribe. Meaning that each tribe has its own culture and practices its own cultural norms.

Study Tours.

We carry out study tours for students wishing to learn more about Uganda. These tours can target specific interests such as flora, fauna, or culture. For both Local students and international students with valid school identity cards. These tours help students develop more love for wildlife and future Tour guides because even us we started that like while we were still students.

Uganda’s primate safari.

When we talk about primates, mostly we look at Mountain Gorillas & Chimpanzees tracking, however with these besides, we have Black and White colobus monkeys, Olive baboons, L’Hoest monkeys, Blue tailed monkeys and so many. We take care of bookings for Gorilla and Chimp permits. Gorillas and chimpanzees tracking are amazing activities, but they require advance planning, since permits are required for one to go for these amazing creatures. Gorilla permits are especially in high demand and should be booked early to avoid inconveniences.

 

Permits are obtained from the Uganda Wildlife Authority head offices in Kampala however at times you can get it at the headquarters in Buhoma in Bwindi National park on a rare occasion and tracking is only guaranteed upon full payment. Today a mountain Gorillas permit is USD 600.00 for Foreign Non-Resident, $350.00 Non Residents, and 250.000 shillings for East Africans. Gorillas are tracked in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Park. Chimps can be tracked in Kibale, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Semuliki National park however we have a Chimpanzee sanctuary at Ngamba Island in Lake Victoria where the Chimp orphans are taken care of and looked after. You can decide where to go and we shall be pleased to cater for your booking.

Bird Watching.
Our experienced and expert guides will take you to the best birding sites in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Bird watching is a popular activity in Uganda because of the numerous species, and high number of birds. Bird watching is possible in all national parks and other sites throughout the country. We have for example birding sites like Mabamba swamp on Lake Victoria, Mabira forest, Semuliki game reserve, Mubwindi swamp and all other. These area help us locate the endemic Albertine Rift bird species which can’t be seen nowhere else especially birds like the incredible rare SHOE BILL, Shelley’s Crimson wing,
Graur’s Green Broadbill.

 

White Water Rafting & Bungee Jumping.
We organize trips that will get your adrenaline flowing! White water rafting and bungee jumping are not for the faint hearted! Opt for half or full day rafting, or a package including both bungee jumping and a half-day rafting. Both activities take place on the Nile River and at Bujagali Falls in Jinja.

 

Camping. We can assist you in planning a camping safari. Camping is an economical and adventurous way to enjoy nature. Several campsites are available throughout the country, including in national parks. Camping facilities vary depending on location.

It is important to enquire early as to the equipment required for this activity. We can assist in securing tents and other equipment which you may require while camping.

 

 

Boat Trips.
We book boat trips for safaris, as well as for trips on Lake Victoria and Bunyonyi. For boat, we have canoes and motorized boats. Boat launches, cruises and canoeing take place at Lake Mburo, Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Bunyonyi. Looking for a little adventure? Quad biking is now available along the banks of the River Nile as well as in Lake Mburo National Park. This activity is a great way to enjoy a thrilling ride with beautiful scenery. Safety and fun guaranteed!

Mountain Biking.
We can assist you in booking mountain bikes for your biking tour. Mountain biking is available in some national parks, as well as in and around Kampala, you may also decide to book with us seven days mountain Climbing this is available on Mount Rwenzori and Mount Elgon.

City Tours of Kampala, Jinja & Entebbe.
We will take you on exciting and informative tours throughout Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe.

In Kampala, you may be interested in visiting the national museum, the local markets, cultural heritage sites like the Kings Palace and the Kings’ burial grounds (Kasubi Tombs) and different religious establishments like Kibuli Mosque, Bahai temple and Namirembe cathedral.

In Jinja, you can walk around the town; have a visit of the Nile Breweries, the Uganda Museum, the Source of the Nile, and Bujagali Falls. In Entebbe, you can visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre to see the animals very closer in cages, the Botanical Gardens, and the beach.

 

Terms and Conditions GORILLLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS organize safaris in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully as they set out our respective obligations and form the basis of your contract with us. In these terms and conditions, “you” mean all persons named on the booking (including anyone who is added or substituted at a later date) and “we” and “us” means Just Travel Uganda. These terms are amended from time to time due to changing circumstances; the terms at the time of booking are the terms that are valid. Conditions in Africa are not the same as those in developed countries and standards of service, medical facilities, safety and security may often be lower than those in your home countries. Please note that it is the laws and regulations of the country in which services are provided, which apply to your holiday arrangements, and not those of your home country.

 

Quotations/Bookings/Prices: Please ensure that the quotation given with details regarding the number of clients, dates, accommodation, transportation, permits, park fees and all other services to be provided is clear and accurate before confirming the booking in writing. The price of your chosen holiday will be confirmed at the time of booking.

We reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices and will do so as soon as we become aware of any such error.

 

However, every effort is made to ensure that we provide correct figures. Payment At the time of booking you must confirm acceptance of these terms and conditions and pay a deposit of 40% of the price of your holiday including fees for gorilla permits. If written acceptance is not received from you, we shall assume acceptance of the Terms and Conditions once you make the deposit. The balance must be paid in full before the start of the safari. It could be paid before coming or just before the safari starts. We request that you send the last installment within the last 30 days’ time so as to confirm your booking 100% since we shall be in need of taking care of your accommodation, vehicle, mountain Gorilla and Chimps permits.

 

What is included and not included in the price:

Included in the price; airport transfers, accommodation, meals as stated (FB), an English- speaking driver/guide, a 4×4 safari vehicle and fuel, portage of two items of baggage per person, boat trips, park entrance fees, mountain Gorilla and chimpanzee permits where appropriate. Excluded in the price: all items of personal nature such as entry visas, tips, telephone calls, laundry, gifts, airport taxes and all drinks. On safari, the prices cover full board unless otherwise. The company reserves the right to vary the safari services agreed with the client in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as road closures, bad weather, problems with national parks or hotels and security considerations. In such cases alternative arrangements will be made as circumstances permit.

 

Accuracy of information we base on the descriptions that we provide regarding the national parks, accommodation, security, Gorilla permits, itineraries and animal sightings on the latest information that is available to us. We endeavor to ensure that all information provided is accurate and do so in good faith. We therefore cannot accept responsibility for errors or omitted information caused by matters that we are unable to control.

 

Insurance; it is advisable that before undertaking a holiday with us that you have, appropriate insurance for the type of holiday being taken. Such insurance should fully cover death, personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation in the event of accident or illness or death, cancellation or curtailment of the holiday by side and loss of, damage to, or theft of the clients’ personal property. Activities with a greater inherent risk, such as mountaineering, animal tracking on foot, white-water rafting should be covered. Evacuation cover is provided by GORILLLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS for clients undertaking a full safari package like you.

 

Medical Requirements: Good physical and mental health is essential for the enjoyment of these active, outdoors tours. You may travel in rugged areas removed from modern medical facilities. Good physical conditioning is recommended as preparation for all tours, especially those involving trekking. By forwarding the deposit, the passenger certifies that he/she does not have any physical or other condition of disability that would create a hazard for him/herself or other passengers but if you have any disability, then you will communicate in time so as we organize for you everything. No any client can fail go see the mountain Gorillas or Chimps or go on a safari, because at the Mountain Gorillas section, there’s a team of porters who will carry you to the forest and will see the Gorillas with your eyes.

You should never be stopped because of any disability. It is essential that any participant with a medical condition requiring regular treatment or which may be affected by vigorous activity, high altitude, heat, cold, other natural phenomenon, or particular foods, notifies us and the tour leaders, in writing in advance of travel.

We assume no liability for medical care or for special dietary requirements if not informed long in advance. The medical requirements by some places like Ngamba Island is a sole responsibility of the client to meet them. We bring Ngamba Island and the client in direct contact so that he is furnished with what is required of him before walking with the chimps.

 

Accommodation unless a specific accommodation is requested, we reserve or recommend the best or mid-range facility, reasonably priced, charming hotels/ lodges with private bath, hot water, good service with charging sockets inside as well bathtubs. Some hotels/lodges have swimming pools. Prices are based on two persons sharing a double or a twin-bed room. We reserve the right to substitute equivalent or superior hotels (Luxury). We make every effort to arrange shared accommodations for single travelers when requested to do so. If the request cannot be honored, the quoted single supplement will apply.

 

Cancellation by us occasionally we have to cancel confirmed bookings. We always endeavor to avoid canceling, but we must reserve the right to do so. We shall not cancel your confirmed holiday less than 60 days before departure unless we are forced to do so as a result of unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which we could not have avoided even with all due care.

 

If we cancel your holiday, we shall offer you the choice of purchasing an alternative holiday from us of a similar standard to that originally booked if available. If the chosen alternative is less expensive than your original holiday we shall refund the difference but if it is more expensive, we shall ask you to pay the difference. Alternatively you are entitled to a full refund of all monies you have paid to us save that paid for gorilla permits which can only be refunded if the refund has been made available to us. Except where we cancel for reasons other than those mentioned in this clause, we shall have no further liability to you.

 

We regret we cannot pay any expenses, costs or losses incurred as a result of any cancellation. We reserve the right, without prior notice, to terminate the holiday of any person in your party if, in our opinion or in the opinion of any other person in authority, the persons concerned behave in such a way to cause or be likely to cause danger, annoyance or distress to any third party or damage to property. In this situation, the person(s) concerned will be required to leave the accommodation or other service immediately. We shall have no further responsibility towards such person(s). No refunds will be made and we shall not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination.

 

Cancellation by you should you or any member of your party be forced to cancel, you must advise us in writing. A cancellation is not effective until we receive a copy of your written notice. To cover our estimated loss caused by the cancellation and as we may be unable to resell your holiday, cancellation fees, excluding insurance, will be levied per person as follows: Period before departure Cancellation charge (as percentage of total Tour price paid where applicable).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received will be subject to the following forfeit of tour cost: 91 days and above 10% 60-90 days 25% of tour cost 46-60 days 40% of tour cost 16-45 days 80% of tour cost 0-15 days 100% of tour cost.

NB. Cancellation fees are based on the date your written notification is received at GORILLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS Complaints must be reported immediately to our representative and to the supplier of the service(s) in question, who will do their best to resolve any problem.

If you remain dissatisfied, a written report should be submitted to the Safari manager in Kampala as soon as possible after the incident and not later than 20 days after completion of your holiday, to enable us to investigate them fully.

 

Regrettably, liability for any complaints not notified in accordance with this procedure cannot be accepted. W4e cannot accept liability or pay compensation in circumstances in which the proper performance of our obligations is either affected or prevented by an event which we or the service provider in question could not, with all due care, avoid or foresee. Events of this kind include riots, threats of war, civil rivalry, border closures, terrorist activity, unexpected government action, industrial disputes, natural disaster, nuclear disaster, fire, extreme weather conditions, road closures, epidemics, pilferage, quarantines, dangers incident to traveling by sea, air or land and other acts or incidents that are beyond our control.

 

We purchase transport, accommodation, restaurant services, medical evacuation services and other such services from independent suppliers that are not subject to our control. Due to this, we cannot be responsible for personal injury, property damage, death or any loss that may occur as a result of any act or omission of a supplier or by reason of any other event that we have no control over. We reserve the right to amend the prices of US Dollars to reflect increases in foreign exchange or tariff rates before receiving the deposit from you without notification.

 

We also reserve the right to withdraw a tour or a part of it, to make alterations where necessary and desirable in the itinerary, to refuse to retain or accept as a member of any tour any person at any time, and to pass on to tour members any expenditure or losses caused by events beyond our control. Optional activities at some places visited are available depending on the itinerary selected by you. Activities include, but are not limited to: Canoe trips, boat trips, water rafting trips, walking tours, mountain Gorillas tracking, Chimpanzee tracking and mountaineering. Your personal safety during these excursions cannot be guaranteed.

 

You are free to participate in any such activities while you are on tour. However, doing so will be at your own risk and we shall assume no responsibility for your safety. Gorilla Permits for gorilla tracking in the relevant national park can only be purchased when payment has been received. Acquiring the Gorillas permit does not guarantee that you will see the Gorillas. Local unforeseeable conditions can sometimes mean that gaining access to the Gorillas is made impossible on at short notice. We do not accept liability for any circumstances that may lead to a Gorilla viewing being cancelled, be it the closure of the National Park or borders, absence of the Gorillas or security changes. Refunds will be at the discretion of the authority in charge and we cannot accept liability for them.

 

We shall endeavor to obtain a refund from the relevant authority and should it be paid, we will pass it on to the client. Currently, chances of seeing the Gorillas are 98%.

Please note that Gorilla Permits in Uganda and Rwanda are not refundable when already booked. Jurisdiction the principal company is incorporated in the Republic of Uganda and it operates under the laws of Uganda. Liability every reasonable effort shall be made to ensure that (a) all elements of the holiday are supplied as has been described in the brochure and to a reasonable standard; and (b) our employees, agents, suppliers and sub- contractors exercise due care in carrying out our obligations under the contract.

We accept responsibility for what our employees, agents, suppliers and sub-contractors do or do not do if at the time they were carrying out work authorized by us.

If any part of your holiday is not provided as advertised and to a reasonable standard, we shall pay you appropriate compensation if your enjoyment of the holiday has been affected and you have followed the complaints procedure set out in these terms and conditions.

 

Our maximum liability in respect of complaints (except where death, personal injury or illness results, or where claims relate to loss or damage to possessions or luggage, which are dealt with below) is limited to an amount equal to the cost paid by or on behalf of the person affected for the relevant services. The maximum amount will only be payable where the person affected has derived no benefit from the holiday and none of the services contracted have been provided. We will take all due care to prevent your death, injury or illness being caused by the animal or insect life of the destinations that you are traveling to.

 

In this regard however, it is your responsibility to take proper medical and practical precautions. Medical advice should be sought well before traveling. Subject to these Terms and Conditions, we accept responsibility should you or any of your party suffer death, personal injury or illness as a result of any failure to perform or improper performance of the contract by any of our employees, agents, suppliers or sub-contractors if at the time they were carrying out work authorized by us except in the following situations.

 

We will not be liable where any failure to perform or improper performance was:

(i) The acts or omissions of a third party not connected with the provision of the holiday under the contract and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable;

(ii) An event which we or the supplier of the relevant services could not have foreseen or avoided even with all due care. Claims must be notified to us in accordance with the complaints procedure aforementioned. Any person to whom any payment is made (and their parent or guardian if that person is a minor) must assign to us and our insurers any rights they may have to pursue any third party in connection with the claim and provide all necessary assistance to us and our insurers that be reasonably required.

 

Baggage;

All personal belongings and baggage are at the client’s own risk. However we take too much care providing them full and thorough safety. In case an incident happens, we make follow-ups.

Photography We reserve the right to take photographic images of individual participants to use for commercial promotion of our safaris. Tour members who prefer that their image not be used are asked to identify themselves to their tour escort at the start of the tour.

 

 

 

Safari Terms and conditions.

 

Prices INCLUDE airport transfers, accommodation, meals as stated, an English-speaking driver/ guide and a 4×4 safari vehicle, portage of two items of baggage per person, boat trips, park fees, mountain Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits where appropriate.

Prices EXCLUDE all items of a personal nature such as entry visas, tips, telephone calls, laundry, gifts, airport taxes and all drinks.

The company reserves the right to vary the safari services agreed with the client in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as road closures, bad weather, problems with national parks or hotels, security considerations. In such cases alternative arrangements will be made as circumstances permit.

 

Transport we ensure that every person is entitled to a Window seat in the vehicle. Every effort is made to ensure that vehicles are provided in a roadworthy condition but no liability can be accepted for breakdown, or any damage or delay. Our guides are instructed to follow our code of conduct for Guides (available on request), which you must not ask them to break in any way. In the event that a Guide does not follow the code, please inform the Safari Manager in Kampala. The company’s Guide whose decision on all matters, such as the route taken, is final must only drive company vehicles. You will be liable for any damage caused to a vehicle by any interference by you with the vehicle, including legal costs. In case of breakdown, it’s our responsibility to rectify the situation. We can either withdraw the vehicle in question or replace it or if the breakdown is minor and can be rectified, we reserve the right to do so.

 

Tipping there are no set percentages for tips. The amount being tipped is at the discretion of the customer and any token of appreciation is welcomed. Voluntary Execution; Your advancement of a deposit certifies that you have accepted GORILLLAS HOMELAND SAFARIS, carefully read and fully understood the contents of the Terms and Conditions, especially those regarding cancellation and refund policies, limitation of liability, and responsibility borne by trip participants. On the advance of a deposit to the depositor, his or her family and heirs agree to be bound by the above Terms and Conditions.
